What kind of race?

I've never thought about it before, but why is an ethnically similar group of people collectively known as a "race?" White, Black, Hispanic...what the hell kind of race is it? Is it supposed to be some type of competition? Where is the finish line? What do you get if you win the race?
No wonder racism exists. Anyone out there know if other languages have this dual meaning for the word "race?"

  1. Racism exists because it's human nature to be more comfortable around people that are "like you" It's obvious that there are different "types" of humans, just as there is different breeds of dogs.

I mean, a Yorkshire terrier is a Dog, but so is a Great Dane, but from appearance they are totally different.

Same can be said for an Irish person, he or she has a totally different appearance than say, a Japanese person.

The physical appearance is truly what separates race. Is that bad? well certainly someone will take what I say and mash it into that I am some sorta racist hatemonger, but I am not, trust me there is always someone out who want's to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

But I don't care, I just call it the way I see it. I'm only human.
